ACW | November 3, 2026 — A man killed the two wives of his late brother in Balamurghab district of western Afghanistan's Badghis province on Monday, November 2, local sources told the Hasht-e Subh (8am Media) newspaper.
The man was detained after the killings, the sources said. The report does not say who detained him.
His brother had died about 20 days earlier and left eight children, according to the sources. The motive and details of the killings are not clear from the report.
No other source has confirmed the report so far. No response from the Taliban caretaker government appeared in published reports.
Background: ACW reported earlier that a woman in Samangan province was beaten to death by her husband, according to the Taliban's provincial police command.
Why it matters: Family disputes, violence, economic hardship and social pressure lead to killings in some cases in Afghanistan, Hasht-e Subh wrote in its report.
ACW will continue to follow this story.
